Six couples remain on Dancing With The Stars Season 6. For the first time this season, each of the couples performed two individual routines last night. Their scores may have suffered as a result. As you can see from the Judges Leader Board, there was no perfect 30’s last night:

Len made a special announcement from the judges tonight. He pointed out that all of the couples had been pushing the boundaries of what was a lift this season. The judges have therefore decided that instead of trying to fight it that starting next week, each couple will be allowed one lift per performance but it must be in character of the dance they are performing. The danger for the couples is of course if they choreograph in a lift they could still end up getting docked for points if the accidentally do a second lift. To me, I’m not sure that they are really doing the couples a favor.

Good choice by the judges. That was without a doubt the best performance last night.

The special musical guest tonight was the heavy metal band Def Leppard. If you had told me in 1987 that Def Leppard would be performing on a ballroom dancing show I would have said you were nuts. (Of course if you had told me I would be watching a ballroom dancing show, I also would have told you you were crazy!) They sound just as good as they did back then. The dancing was hot too. I especially liked the dresses of Anna, Cheryl, and Karina during Pour Some Suger On Me.

When they spoke to Cristian regarding his injury last night, it turns out that he ruptured a tendon in his arm. He is going to need surgery to repair it however the doctor told him that he can postpone the surgery until after the competition. Cristian has therefore decided to continue on the show. It will now just be a question as to whether he can actually perform well enough with his injury.

Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough

Shannon & Derek were the couple I predicted would be going home tonight. Shannon did not have a great night last night. She and Derek have had mediocre score through out the competition and less fan support than a lot of the other couples.
