I’ve lost countless hours to the tower defense style games, so when the opportunity game along to review a new spin on the old classic over at Itch.com I was excited and worried about how many hours of my life I was about to lose. Random Defense, or “defence” depending on your site of the pond, is a scaled up and polished version of those older Flash games where endless forces march down the path and try to destroy you. Your only defense is building up enough coin to buy guns, mines, and anything else that’ll slow down your destruction.
Random Defense fixed a lot of things that I felt was wrong with the old versions. There’s no cheating at this one my simply stretching the window. Better yet is the way this one shows the range around your new turret to let you best position it. Probably my favorite part of this version is the various enemies they throw at you. Instead of just a faceless row of shapes this game has giant lips, Agent Smith, and poofy haired punks heading your way. Another improved feature is the variety of settings and backgrounds you can use to customize the game. There are several different backdrops for Easy, Medium, and Hard modes, though I’d recommend plenty of practice before making the move to Hard.

What would have made the experience better is some sort of way to embed the game on other sites, like here! There isn’t any way to email it out to a friend or to yourself later so you can go back and play. Those are pretty minor points though, so whether your a fan of the tower defense games or just enjoy easily addictive Flash games, then you should check out:
