20th Century Fox TV just made Seth McFarlane the highest paid television writer ever with a $100+ million contract that’ll keep the creator of Family Guy and American Dad at the network through 2012. Wow, not bad for a bunch of fart jokes.
Seth is no doubt beside himself with the conclusion to the two and a half years of contract negotiations, as The Hollywood Reporter details:
“I get a lot of pleasure out of making shows,” MacFarlane said. “It’s a bonus to be getting paid well for it, and it’s a double bonus to be getting paid exorbitantly for it.”
The contract will cover McFarlane supporting his two afore mentioned cartoons as well as the addition of the upcoming spin-off “The Cleveland Show”. How Cleveland got a show before Quagmire is a mystery to me. Keep in mind that Fox just paid over a hundred million dollars to the guy whose show they canceled twice before, only to bring it back as a top-rated draw for the network. Nice foresight there, Fox.
