American Idol Stage

Last night’s results show will go down in American Idol history as the first time a contestant was truly elated to be going home! Precious Jason was practically salivating to be eliminated- exclaiming that he HAD packed his bags as Simon suggested Tuesday night! Ryan’s lame fakeout of fellow bottom-two Syesha scared Jason more than anyone! Happily, Jason got his wish and will not have to sing 3 songs next week. A more joyful exit song has not been performed on Idol, and now Jason can begin the rest of his life. He’s NOT as dumb as people think- he’s a construction engineering major at crazy-hard Texas A&M University. Dummies don’t get in, and dummies don’t major in engineering. Jason’s just goofy, original and laid back. Nobody expected him to win, but I will miss his genuine preciousness. He’ll be a BIG draw for the tour.

Preciousness now is in the sole possession of David Archuletta, (and in the eye of the beholder). I’m not in Archie’s camp. Send me hate comments if you wish, but he is BORING ME TO TEARS, and has been for a long, long time. Every flourish, every note change, every run is so freakin’ predictable now that I just want to ZZZZZZZZZZ. The boy can sing on key, most of the time. He can’t control the squints and the overlick. He is a breathy, painful interview. He is not stuck in a box, he IS the box, and therefore will never evolve into a multifaceted artist. David Cook, of course, already is. Syesha can be as well. No matter what your opinion of either, they are grownups without stage-daddies, and have decent potential for success.

An Archie release will be a one-trick pony. I speak with authority on this matter, as I’m the mom of a teenage daughter. I’ve seen the fickle affections and obsessions with the flavor of the month turn on a dime. The affections become embarrassments, whose posters and ticket stubs now reside well-hidden in the attic.

Jason’s exit could be dangerous for Cookie and Sye, however, as the tween/teen part of his fanbase may move over to the less cool Archie. The cool part of Jason’s fanbase will probably drift towards David Cook. Syesha isn’t gonna pick up a lot from Jason’s exit. Still, the votes were extremely tight Tuesday night, revealing that Sye’s fanbase is large, and probably won’t be shrinking. She’s peaking at the right time, and America MAY want a guy-girl final. If so, will it be a man and a woman? Or a child and a woman? Demographics and dialer dedication will decide all.

My theory that more girls watch the show than guys, and are voting for the guys, will have the ultimate test next week. The producers are pimping Archie hard, and Cook and Sye both need to kill next week to boot the lil’ fetus! The Idol machine will REALLY suffer long-term if he wins it all, and will kiss any street cred it has left goodbye.

Not to split hairs, but he is a construction science major, not a construction engineering major.

I thought he was a construction paper major. I heard he had this amazing trick where he could fold a piece of red construction paper in half, cut out half a heart shape, and then it became a whole heart! Next he’s supposed to be working on a way to create linked arm stick figures using a similar method.

I kid, I kid. I’m sure he’ll go on to design amazing bongs.

  3. Erin

Right you are! He’s in the school of Architecture. Had a roommate in college who studied architecture, I can totally see Jason behind a drafting board. Designing bongs for Matt. I kid!

  4. Joanie

I completely agree. David Archuleta is the most overrated contestant of all time and so not deserving of the title.

Tootie can help Jason design them:

David A is a little kid….. David Cook and Sye are adults….. and act like it. No giggling… no incoherent answers…. I hope they’re in the final two. Although Jason will be missed… just for the “goof” factor.

Erin you really are a dumbass! And so is everyone who agrees with you. I can’t believe I just wasted a couple minutes of my life reading your useless comments. I hope your kids turn out to be mindless and useless dumbasses like you just described David Archuleta to be. I hope they have no talent whatsoever and end up on an episode of COPS.

  8. Matt

Well it’s hard to argue with a well constructed argument like that. Wait a second…

  9. Anne

Dayummm! That is some red hot archie love right there!

The probelm with the little kid is just that - he is a little kid! Disney maybe; Recording Industry?? Maybe in another 5 years or so.. do anyone really see him doing anything original!?? Danny Noriega has more personality than him; heck even that Garett character had more! He has a good voice but then if I had to buy an album and I am left with a choice of his and Anthony Fedorov, I chose Anthony!

I have not from the beginning been able to comprehend the extreme favoritism shown Little David. Perhaps they feel badly for him because of his Dad.

Jason had the best exit ever on Idol. He was ready to get off the merry-go-round but kiddies, that doesn’t mean he hated your balloons. Look at that guy, you know he loves balloons.

just show ur opinion as u want to state it… vote for David Cook
