Iron Man

Looks like you can’t hold a good “Iron Man” down. For the second week in a row, Robert Downey Jr.’s ironclad superhero took to the skies and came back with first place at the box office for movie earnings. Earning over $50 million in its sophomore weekend, Iron Man has reached nearly $200 million domestic in the past 15 days.

No doubt a disappointment, “Speed Racer” earned just $20.2 million, barely nudging out Ashton Kutcher’s “What Happens in Vegas” romantic comedy at $20.0 million. The other new release, “The Fall” came in around #24 with only $80,000, which sounds bad until you note that it was only open in 9 theaters across the country. That puts its per theater earning at $9,000 while “Racer” and “Vegas” pulled in closer to $6,000 per theater. I hope “The Fall” will reach more theaters very soon as it looks quite stunning.
