As Tom Bergeron likes to say, tonight was the cruelest cut of all on Dancing With The Stars. The couple who goes home tonight misses next week’s finals. No one ever wants to go home, but this week especially no one wants to go home. The judges selected Kristi & Mark’s Tango from last night as the Judges Encore Performance tonight. That was a good choice. I would rather have seen Cristian & Cheryl’s Samba though. Here is how the Judges Leader Board stood after last night’s performances:

Here are the couples who will be back next week in the order they were announced:

Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
Marissa & Tony had a great run this season. I don’t think anyone expected them to make it this far. I know I didn’t. Marissa & Tony did a fantastic job of getting the fans on their side. They have had a number of close calls based on the judges’ scores from which the fans’ votes saved them from elimination. In this case, Marissa & Tony were the couple who should have been sent home this week. All three of the other couples danced better than Marissa & Tony last week. The three couples remaining are all strong competitors. Obviously Kristi & Mark are the couple to beat. They will be hard to beat. If they have a bad week and either Jason & Edyta or Cristian & Cheryl keep dancing well, then they have a shot. Personally, I’m rooting for Cristian & Cheryl. They have come on really strong since Cristian’s injury. I’d love to see them take home the trophy.

Kristi and Mark are clearly the best dancing couple. I don’t have a horse in this race so I am not biased in any way. From the very beginning they consistently demonstrated superior dance ability. The other teams are good. Kristi and Mark are better. Hopefully, the public will do the right thing and vote for the best team and not who is the most popular. However, when dealing with the public one never knows.

I believe the best pair of dancers is Kristi and Mark, but the very essence of the show is to pick non dancing celebrities and witness them develop into great dancers every week. That would be Cheryl and Cristian. They deserve to win. Kristi has an advantage because she must have dancing lessons in order to perform her beautiful figure skating routines. When Emmett won, I believed in the integrity of the show. I love Kristi, but Cristian should win.

On the results show I couldn’t help but notice that during the promo just before the first couple was announced Christian had different arms wrapped at different times. Whats up with that?

Christian hurt his arm in week 7. He tore one of the tendons off the bone and needs surgery. However, the doctor said that he could postpone the surgery for a few weeks if he wanted to continue the show. That is why the choreography has been more “one arm-ed” as the judges keep saying.
