I’ve been waiting for this one for nearly 10 years. The X-Files 2 movie, “I Want to Believe” is said to be a stand alone film rather than a continuation of the original movie or the series itself. Instead it will be more like the “monster of the week” installments and hopefully then more entertaining for the old fans of the long since ended show.
I read another movie site questioning the value of such a sequel because what can it really offer in terms of the overarching story. I think he’s right to question the value, but I think the answer lies in what I already mentioned. This isn’t mean to seal the fate of Mulder’s site or exonerate his father for past sins. Instead I’m hoping we’ll get an entertaining and exciting supernatural movie with this one.
The X-Files 2 - Details:
Release Date: 25 July 2008
Genre: Sci-Fi / Mystery
Starring: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson
Director: Chris Carter
Expected Rating: PG-13
The X-Files 2 - Plot:
From Wikipedia: Due to the highly secretive nature of the project, the studio has released very little information about the film’s plot. The producers have only revealed that it will take place six years after the events of the series.[3] It is also known that, unlike the first film, the plot will not focus on the series’ ongoing “mythology” and will instead be a standalone thriller/horror story, similar to many of the “monster-of-the-week” episodes that were frequently seen in the TV series.
