Last night’s So You Think You Can Dance performances were awesome. Joining Nigel and Mary on the judges’ panel was director and choreographer Adam Shackman.

Kherington & Twitch
Dance Style: Hip Hop
I ended up watching Kherington much more closely than Twitch because Hip Hop is not her style while it is Twitch’s. I thought she did a great job as did Twitch. It was a good routine and I thought they both did well.
Nigel: “Let me list the negatives. I can’t think of any.”
Mary: “They are going to be on the top 10 most wanted on So You Think You Can Dance.”
Adam: “It was awesome.”

Courtney G. & Gev
Dance Style: Rumba
There were some awkward moments at the beginning of the routine. Courtney even got her show caught on her dress. Then they picked it up. Courtney seemed much smoother than Gev and sexier too. I disagreed with Nigel because, I didn’t really feel the passion tonight between the two of them.
Nigel: “I am very very happy with that routine.”
Mary: “I thought it was great. I’m really proud of you.”
Adam: “I really loved it. I also think you guys are going to be around for a while.”

Comfort & Chris
Dance Style: Jazz
Chris has not been one of my favorite performers but I loved this routine. I thought they did a great job with it. Marilyn Manson is a bit of an unusual choice for a routine that had an African undercurrent.
Nigel: “I didn’t like it. I think I was disappointed with the power you put behind the routine. I thought it was a little too soft. It should have been stronger and bigger.”
Mary: “I felt the same way. It should have been crazy up there.”
Adam: “This is nothing but a giant performance piece… sometimes you were there and sometimes you weren’t.”

Jessica & Will
Dance Style: Disco
The intro video did not do a lot tohow help Jessica’s cause. Jessica seemed to be a little off. I thought the routine did far more to highlight Will than it did Jessica.
Nigel: “Disco can appear to be cheesy if it is done badly. I thought you danced it well but there were three areas where it just went wrong. Whatever mistakes there were you carried them off.”
Mary: “The lifts were absolutely effortless. I thought you two were lean mean disco machines.”
Adam: “I thought that the routine was really fantastic. Jessica you are so beautiful its scary. I wish you knew how good you are. Will you are scary, you are so good.”

Kourtni L. & Matt
Dance Style: Contemporary
Kourtni and Matt did the best they could with that routine. I didn’t follow the whole comic book theme (where was batman again?). The two of them did a great job getting into character and the moves were smooth and precise.
Nigel: “This is the first time I have seen these two find a style they can both work in. You showed every bit of technique you possess. Matt I would still like to see you relax some more.”
Mary: “something weird for sale and I’m buying it. It show cased your talent.”
Adam: “So beautiful. Your bodies are so beautiful. You can let loose a little bit more but all in all I think you guys did a fantastic job.”

Chelsea T. & Thayne
Dance Style: Quickstep
My first impression was this is not a good style for them. The steps and footwork did not look very clean and crisp. It may have been the routine but the steps also seemed slow for a Quickstep. Overall I gave there performance a meh.
Nigel: “I thought you tried to keep your body shape. The bad thing for me was you can still show your personality. It was a much better attempt than I thought it was going to be. i think you both better get your solos ready.”
Mary: “This is a very difficult dance. This really fell short with this. Thayne you did a respectable job. Chelsea I don’t think you were helping out your partner tonight.”
Adam: “I think you don’t look comfortable, you’re not in your element.”

Chelsea H. & Mark
Dance Style: Hip Hop
I loved it. That was brilliant, both the choreography and the dancing. There were a few spots where they were out of sync. It was so good, who cares? Chelsea in particular was absolutely fabulous.
Nigel: “I thought you were excellent.”
Mary: “I have to agree. I loved it. I really believed the struggle.”
Adam: “Yeah! That’s what I’m talkin’ about. That was awesome! You guys are the couple to beat.”

Katee & Joshua
Dance Style: Samba
Joshua was totally believable. Katee did a great job of moving out of her comfort zone. I think she still could have done a better job though. Her performance wasn’t quite a believable to me.
Nigel: “Joshua you have a natural Samba rhythm. There were four routines which were absolutely ”
Mary: “That number was hot. Hot Tamale train worthy.”
Adam: “I loved it.”
