The performance’s on last night’s So You Think You Can Dance ranged from amazing to barely mediocre. Everyone’s favorite choreographer, Mia Michaels, joined Nigel and Mary to help judge the routines.

Chelsea H. & Mark
Dance Style: Salsa
Their Salsa was so hot. They looked like they had been doing it for years. I didn’t catch any mistakes at all. I was also especially impressed with their footwork. I loved it.
Nigel: “Terrific opening.”
Mary: “This one worked for me.”
Mia: “Chelsea you are gorgeous. Mark I thought there was something awkward in this one. I thought it was a great performance.”

Comfort & Thayne
Dance Style: Hip Hop
Comfort did great. Since Hip Hop is her genre you would expect that. Technically I thought Thayne did a really good job. Its just tough to believe him trying to be a tough guy from the hood.
Nigel: “Thayne you were trying. Comfort you didn’t really relate to him until the end. I was a little disappointed.”
Mary: “We’re talking about Chemistry and that didn’t have it. For me it was just good.”
Mia: “It was little bit more than good. They’re right, the connection was lacking.”
P.S. Mary, no one says Groovy anymore.

Jessica & Will
Dance Style: Contemporary
Will was brilliant as always. Jessica is just kind of mediocre for me. Will is only going to be able to carry her for so long. The few missteps I saw in this routine were all by Jessica.
Nigel: “Stunning piece. Will you were incredible. I felt as thought you two added something to the choreography, a connection.”
Mary: “Wow. That was one of the most amazing pieces we’ve seen on the show.”
Mia: “It was like the perfect moving human body art.”

Courtney G. & Gev
Dance Style: Cha Cha
I really, really liked this routine. Courtney was amazing as usual but, I really thought Gev stepped it up this week. He really kept up with her which I thought was great for him.
Nigel: “Was it technically great, I don’t think so. Was it great fun to watch, absolutely.”
Mary: “It was magic! It was hot cha cha cha cha! It was a great number!”
Mia: “I think that was fabulosity at its best. You guys are not the best dancers on the show but… you guys are getting stronger and stronger every week.”
P.S. Mia, what the hell does fabulosity mean?

Kherington & Twitch (a.k.a. Twitchington)
Dance Style: Krump
twitch was obviously very into it. Chelsea did a creditable job krumping although I never quite believe the look on her face when she tries to look tough.
Nigel: “On paper this was the equivalent of a duet between Buster Rhymes and Miley Cyrus but, in reality it was brilliant.”
Mary: “This is the first time on this show that I bought into the whole krumping routine.”
Mia: “That was dirty and disgusting and nasty and buck! Son you served gangsta on a platter. You guys killed it. You did awesome.”

Katee & Joshua
Dance Style: Viennese Waltz
I had a hard time believing this routine was a Viennese Waltz. I thought they did a good job but this was not one of my favorite routines of Katee & Joshua.
Nigel: “Joshua, It was a little bouncy for me from you. Katee that was beautiful.”
Mary: “Tremendous job on the lifts. In the execution of the routine of the Viennese Waltz it was lacking. As a whole it was OK.”
Mia: “Joshua, a little bit clumsy. It was OK it was not your best. Katee you are meant to dance, you are a gift to dance.”

Chelsea H. & Mark
Dance Style: Broadway
Chelsea was awesome. I was a little less impressed with Mark. His movements weren’t as good and I didn’t buy the character. I also didn’t really like the story the choreography was telling.
Nigel: “It was 108 degrees in Vegas but it wasn’t as hot as that. Terrific ”
Mary: “Sultry, sexy, blusey! ”
Mia: “I think it worked. It was a success. Mark it showed your lack of training and technique. Chelsea I wanted to see more movement from you. Overall it was cool.”

Comfort & Thayne
Dance Style: Contemporary
That routine did not do a whole lot for me. Compared to Will & Jessica’s routine these two looked like amateurs. I think this routine will lock in Comfort & Thayne’s spot in the Bottom 3.
Nigel: “This is a tough one for me. I would like to have seen another couple dance that routine. I still didn’t see a connection. I don’t think you danced it as well as you could.”
Mary: “It just wasn’t that believable for me.”
Mia: “Comfort, you can only fake so much. If you had a better connection with each other it would have worked. Thayne, I think you are brilliant. You are an amazing dancer.”
Ouch, sounds like Comfort may be going home tonight.

Jessica & Will
Dance Style: Quickstep
Brilliant! Jessica made a couple of missteps and Will was a little stiff up top but otherwise I thought they did a fantastic job.
Nigel: “The performance was great. The actual Quickstep though was enh!”
Mary: “Its not going to any better here.”
Mia: “I’m a bit sad. Will you look tired of carrying her. You need a new partner.”
Jessica and Will could also end up in the Bottom 3 which would not affect Will as all.

Courtney G. & Gev
Dance Style: Jazz
I loved the Indiana Jones motif. I thought Courtney did a great job. Gev’s movements though seemed a bit heavy in places.
Nigel: “It was fun, there was no substance to it. It was a bit of fun.”
Mary: “I thought it was rough and raw. I loved the routine.”
Mia: “You guys had a great night tonight. You guys are great.”

Kherington & Twitch
Dance Style: Tango
Kherington did a much better job than Twitch of getting into character. I just didn’t feel the passion from Twitch which is what the Tango is all about. It wasn’t really performed well either.
Nigel: “Twitch it wasn’t honest for me. You didn’t look like you felt comfortable. The steps weren’t quit right. Kherington their was no passion in it. You murdered the dance routine tonight.”
Mary: “I loved, loved, loved the beginning. I loved the ending. The in between didn’t really happen.”
Mia: “I just feel like you were very none committed.”

Katee & Joshua
Dance Style: Bollywood
I guess it was good. I really have no idea how it was supposed to look.
Nigel: “Good job.”
Mary: “You guys are stars tonight. You are definitely back on the hot tamale train tonight.”
Mia: “That was a great piece. Great job.”
