It’s good to be king of the web these days. After hearing last week that Tobey Maguire would be returning for Sony’s Spider-Man 4 & 5 I speculated that someone must have been getting out the checkbook. Sure enough Tobey Maguire is getting all sorts of sweet deals to return to his role as Peter Parker.

The most lucrative part of Parker’s return is the figure of $50 million being cited. That’s huge! An average of $25 million to star in the back to back films. $20 million is often the noted line marker for an actor to have really made it. Considering how much the Spider-Man franchise has earned I think Sony could double Maguire’s cut and still make a fortune.

Part of Maguire’s hesitation on returning to the set, especially for back-to-back films, was the time commitment that would take away from being with his wife and 22 month old daughter. Sony has that covered too. Tobey will have the mornings and evenings off from shooting. With more time for his family, Maguire agreed to the deal.
