Dancing With The Stars Season 6

This week’s Dancing With The Stars held a few surprises including the season’s first 10! The big news of course was Misty May-Treanor’s injury. During a rehearsal prior to the show Misty ruptured her Achilles tendon. As a result of her injury Misty will be unable to dance any more this season. That probably means that no one will be going home this week. Although, we won’t find out for sure until tomorrow at the end of the show so you’ll have to watch anyway.

Susan Lucci & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Jive
Their Jive was OK. Susan looked like she was struggling to remember the steps as she danced. Len said that they kept to the same level. Bruno thought her feet were wobbly as a result of her injury. Carrie Ann was more critical of Susan’s timidness in her dancing.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21

Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer
Dance: Viennese Waltz
I have liked Lance and Lacey week after week and this week was no exception. I think Lacey really bring s something to the competition. Her choreography is refreshing in that it isn’t the same old stuffy ballroom moves. At the same time, they get dinged on points, and rightfully so, because they don’t incorporate enough of the official moves. Bruno called their waltz prim and proper. Bruno thought it lacked the freedom and the sparkle that they usually portray. Carrie Ann loved it. Len criticized their footwork but still thought it was their best performance to date.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 22

Maurice Greene & Cheryl Burke
Dance: Jive
That was the perfect dance for Maurice. He finally seemed like he could let loose a little bit and release his energy. Carrie Ann agreed that this was a great routine for Maurice. Len said “This is more like it… full of lovely kicks and flicks”. He said it was their best dance so far. Bruno complimented Maurice on his pace, energy, and sense of fun. He also commented that Maurice improved in his precision.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24

Rocco DiSpirito & Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Viennese Waltz
Aside from the fact that I hate the song the danced too, I was pretty unimpressed. Rocco’s feet seemed very heavy. Len didn’t mind it. He thought it was a pretty good job. Bruno told Rocco he should have kept his blindfold on before comparing their performance to a lump of mashed potatos. Carrie Ann called Rocco the most improved.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 6
Total: 20

Warren Sapp & Kim Johnson
Dance: Viennese Waltz
Warren and Kim’s waltz was brilliant. Warren is a damn good dancer. Bruno called it big, smooth, and beautiful. Carrie Ann was blown away. Len told Warren he was giving those skinny people a run for their money.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 25

Cody Linley & Julianne Hough
Dance: Jive
I’m still not sure whether I liked it or not. I can’t say that there was anything wrong with it but when it was over I just didn’t feel wowed. Carrie Ann thought it was a little awkward. Len liked the first half of it but he thought the second half was just repetitious. Bruno agreed completely with Len.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21

Toni Braxton & Alec Mazo
Dance: Viennese Waltz
I enjoyed that. The rockin’ roll waltz by Marie Antoinette. It was a Viennese Waltz with the intesity of a Paso Doble. Len did not enjoy it at all. He told them they didn’t need gimmicks. Bruno told her she didn’t need to over produce. Carrie Ann liked it. She liked it alot.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 22

Cloris Leachman & Corky Ballas
Dance: Jive
Oh dear. That was just disturbing on so many levels. I thought Corky was going to pass out when it was over. Bruno called it beyond comprehension. Carrie Ann said she made up for her lack in technique with entertainment value. They really didn’t have time for Len to comment.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 5
Bruno Tonioli: 5
Total: 16

Brooke Burke & Derek Hough
Dance: Viennese Waltz
Very pretty. That was a nicely done routine. I didn’t think it was their best performance but it was good and definitely on of the better performances tonight (but what do I know). Carrie Ann told Brooke that she is quickly becoming her favorite dancer of the season. Len called it the best performance of the season so far. Bruno likewise loved this performance.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 10 (First 10 of the Season!)
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 28

I think it is a pity that Misty will no longer be in the competition she is a talented dancer and competitor. I just hope that this injury will not impede on the rest of her volleyball career. My thoughts are with Misty.
