Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Get Married

Despite their on-again-off-again romance, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have run off and gotten themselves married in Mexico. I think the legal restrictions on the mentally handicapped getting married are a little more relaxed down there. I’m still surprised they didn’t whore out their wedding Star Jones style considering that’s what they’ve done with the rest of their lives.

They don’t normally shy from the press, but Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt quietly eloped in Mexico last Thursday, Nov. 20.

“The minute we said our vows, I couldn’t stop crying,” Montag told Perez Hilton of the ceremony at the One & Only Palmilla Resort, just outside Cabo San Lucas.

No kidding she couldn’t stop crying when she looked up and realized she had married flesh-colored beard wearing Spencer Pratt. I’d say that’s more than worth a few boxes of tissues of crying. Best of luck, I guess.

New Revolutionary Road Trailer Released

Revolutionary Road, from director Sam Mendes (American Beauty) and featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, has another trailer released today set to “Sea of Love.” All dialogue was removed save for one line from each of the leads at the end. I think this is a pretty perfect way to present Mendes’ work as it has always been successful in the more artistic aspects of life. Revolutionary Road will have an initial release on December 26, 2008 followed by a wide release in January. I’m assuming that late December move is intended to get it in just in time for Academy consideration.

Dancing With The Stars Season 7 Final Performances

This is it, the big Season 7 Dancing With The Stars Finals . The first round of tonight’s performance was a Group Samba Smackdown. All three couple danced a group Samba for the judge’s score and your vote. The second round of tonight’s competition was a freestyle round. Lacey Schwimmer should be pretty proud of herself for having made the finals during her first season on DWTS. Tomorrow night the couples will dance one last time for a judge’s score. The combined judge’s score will still only count for 1/2 of the couples score. Based on past seasons it really doesn’t matter anyway. The judge’s scores on the last dances are always extremely generous to the point of having no effect on the competition whatsoever.

Brooke Burke & Derek Hough
Dance: Samba
As always Brooke’s performance was nearly perfect. I did notice that she still was not straightening her legs which is something that Len has criticized frequently. Len said he still thought that Brooke was the one to beat. Bruno raved about Brooke’s performance. Carrie Ann told Brooke that she brings out the technical nuances of each dance but she just needs to tone it down a little

I actually enjoyed Lance and Lacey’s Samba better than Brooke and Derek’s. I thought they did a great job. Len liked it but Lance still needs to work on his finesse. Bruno called Lance clean and sharp. Carrie Ann told Lance he keeps getting better and better.

After that Samba Warren is definitely a strong contender to win. That was some of the best footwork we have seen out of Warren all season. Len liked this Samba because it had much more content than their Samba earlier in the season. He is still concerned about Warren’s feet though. Bruno said the technique was not brilliant but it was fun to watch. Carrie Ann called him the most improved and said he has the best connection with the audience.

Very nicely done. Full of tricks as well as brilliant technique. Brooke was a little too excited in places and seemed to get ahead of the music but over all it was brilliant. Bruno called it spectacular! One of the best freestyle he has ever seen. Carrie Ann told Brooke that she nailed the real dances and she brought it tonight. Len said it was the best freestyle he has ever seen!

I think Lacey took the idea of freestyle a little too far. At the end of the day it is still a ballroom dancing competition. The routine they performed was too much hip hop and not enough ballroom. Carrie Ann loved the beginning and end but, she felt that throwing the Cha Cha in in the middle was a bad idea. Len said he likes hip hop and he liked the little bit of Cha Cha in the middle. This surprised me because I figured Len was going to hate it. Bruno called it youthful and vibrant.

Dance: Freestyle
Warren and Kim’s freestyle was lots of fun. Warren really can’t dance to save his life but I had to laugh anyway during the performance. Kim was lucky working with Warren because he can flip her around like a rag doll. Len told Warren that he is a true entertainer. Bruno said all resistance is futile, just sit back and enjoy the ride. Carrie Ann said that this was her favorite routine of them all but she caught at least one mistake.

Dancing With The Stars Season 7 Semi-Final Results

I was actually a little surprised by tonight’s Dancing With The Stars Semi-Final Results. As predicted by Len Goodman last night, Cody Linley was given his marching orders and sent home. Cody has a huge fan following so that even though they are mostly pre-teen girls and of the four remaining stars he was the one who deserved to go home I wasn’t sure it was actually going to happen. I figured that being paired with Julianne would only compound the problem because she has a fan following (mostly middle aged men) of her own. In the end I was glad to see Cody go. Its going to be a tough one next week. All three of the remaining competitors are really strong. Lance & Lacey will probably come in third. I really liked what they did this season but Warren Sapp has too big a following. If they perform the way they did this week they will deserve at least second but I’m still calling them in third. Warren & Kim will probably come in second. Warren is absolutely amazing on the dance floor but his footwork still sucks. Without a doubt Brooke & Derek should win. With the exception of the slight hiccup last night Brooke has been the best performer all season. I’m rooting for her. Tune in next week for the big finale.

Heather Locklear Formally Charged With DUI

Back in September, Heather Locklear was arrested for an alleged DUI offense. Later it turned out a paparazzi had been the one to make the call so she could snap the exclusive arresting photos. The whole thing stunk of a papz attempt to make a few bucks. Turns out Locklear will still be charged with that DUI even though she had no alcohol or illegal drugs in her system:

“Lab tests showed she had no alcohol in her system and no illegal narcotics of any kind,” says Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter, who declined to comment on what medications – or the amounts – Locklear had taken.

“We believe that the prescriptions she was taking could have impaired her ability to drive a motor vehicle safely,” says Carter.

If convicted, Locklear could face up to 6 months in jail which means she’ll likely get a card from the judge with a little kitty on the front hanging onto a branch and on the inside it’ll read, “Hang in there!”

Star Trek Full Trailer Released - Watch It Now

JJ Abrams’ reboot of the Star Trek franchise finally has its first full trailer after months of waiting. Just as expected we’ll have plenty of backstory of Kirk and crew even before they board the Enterprise. Most of the characters look pretty good. Simon Pegg is going to be a great Scotty, at least it looks that way from his 2 second appearance. I’m a little disappointed that Spock isn’t going to sound more like Nimoy’s Spock. Ah well. Give it a watch and let me know what you think.

Dancing With The Stars Season 7 Semi-Final Performances

The Dancing With The Stars semi-finals were not all we could have hoped for. The DWTS judges were particularly harsh this evening resulting in mediocre scores for most of the couples. To be fair to the judges for the most part the performances were pretty mediocre. Even Brooke & Derek had a dismal performance tonight. Lance & Lacey though had their best night of the season. Read on.

Brooke Burke & Derek Hough
Dance: Jive
This was not one of my favorite performances by Brooke & Derek. Brooke seemed totally off which we found out later was because she missed the first step. Len called it a disaster. Bruno was totally shocked said they went for the wow but their technique went down hill. Carrie Ann was especially disappointed that they threw a blatantly illegal lift into the routine. This performance resulted in Brooke & Derek’s lowest score ever.

Dance: Paso Doble
Welcome back Julianne! I thought this was one of Cody’s better performance. The serious demeanor he had to affect for the performance made him look much more mature. Bruno was disappointed with the timing and the complete lack of Spanish lines. Carrie Ann said it was a 10 for determination but it was nor smooth enough. Len told Cody that he was afraid he was going to get his marching orders. Len said it was stiff and wooden.

Hey Tequila! Warren Sapp cracks me up. He is awesome on the dance floor. Warren & Kim also seemed to have some timing issues like everyone else tonight. However I thought this one was better and much more entertaining than the previous two performances. Carrie Ann told Warren he could up the content a little more. Len told Warren that he does a great job performing even if his technique is not great. Bruno called it flat-footed but very entertaining.

Technique-wise I thought this was the best performance of the first round. That was a really great performance. I was a little worried about what Len was going to say. Len however called it the best dance so far. Bruno called it semi-final material. Carrie Ann said it was a show stopper.

I only saw one flaw in the performance when their kicks were not synchronized towards the beginning. Bruno said Brooke is back! Carrie Ann told Brooke good job. Len also liked it and told Brooke to keep to her strengths for next week.

Cody went back to being his usual dorky self in this performance but at least his technique seemed better. Carrie Ann liked it but said Cody was lacking in musicality. Len disagreed and thought the musicality was fine. Bruno called Cody a little cheeky devil.

The jitterbug is very fast so I was a little worried about Warren’s foot action. What Warren did was amazing for such a big dude but, he still looked kind of flat footed. Those black sneakers that he wears certainly doesn’t help. All in all it was still a lot of fun to watch. Len told Warren good job, you sold it. Bruno told Len that his master class on footwork for Warren didn’t work. Carrie Ann loved it.

Lance and Lacey performed a pretty traditional jitterbug. It seems that they have finally taken Len’s advice regardiung their performances. It was a great routine but not quite as good as their first one. Lance was a trooper finishing the performance after losing his shoe half way through. Bruno called it brilliant, like Gene Kelly and Ann Miller. Carrie Ann agreed, calling their routine magic. She said they didn;t miss a step. Len saluted them calling both of thei dances fabulous.

Star Trek 11 Enterprise Revealed

The May 2009 release of Star Trek is getting closer and as it approaches you can watch out for lots of Star Trek goodies along the way. Today we get our first look at the USS Enterprise, Kirk’s personal starship as he zooms across the galaxy. Of course it wasn’t always Kirk’s and that’ll be part of the story when JJ Abrams’ vision hits the screen.

Abrams seems especially proud of the new ship’s level of detail, as he told EW:

“The coolest thing about it—maybe the coolest thing in the movie—was when you flew around the ship, you could see all the different panels that made up the ship,” says the director of the forthcoming Trek reboot, slated for a May 8, 2009 release. “It was the first time I had ever seen that level of attention, that love of detail, given to the tangible, practical reality of the ship.”

Computer graphics have come a long way since the first Star Trek, so yeah, I’d hope this was the best version we’ve ever seen. Enough of the stills, let’s get some footage out in the open!

Dancing With The Stars Season 7 Week 8 Performances

Tonight our Dancing With The Stars couples had to perform two routines, first a ballroom and then a Latin routine. During the Latin dance the stars had to perform a 15 second solo without their pro. Edyta is still filling in for Julianne as Cody Linley’s partner. If Cody makes it to next week (which is questionable after Cody’s performance last week), Julianne will be back with Cody. Julianne will actually be back tomorrow night dancing on the results show.

Cody Linley & Edyta Sliwinska (Julianne Hough)
Dance: Foxtrot
Cody & Edyta’s Foxtrot was actually pretty good. I just have a little trouble getting past how geeky Cody is. Edyta looks like elegance embodied on the floor while Cody looks a little young and awkward. Len really liked it. Bruno actually called Cody a cool dude. I wouldn’t go that far. Carrie Ann loved it too, except for the lift (Edyta’s foot left the ground).

Dance: Tango
The Tango performed by Brooke & Derek tonight was truly amazing. Bruno called it more than a Tango, stunning. Carrie Ann told Brooke that was the reason she is the last woman standing. Len had to throw a bucket of cold water on the love fest. He said it was riddled with mistakes. Basically Len said he was judging Brooke as a professional.

Dance: Quickstep
Maurice seemed a little slow. However, I’ll admit I never do a good job of judging that. Carrie Ann loved it and thought Maurice had great posture. Len complimented Maurice on his footwork. Bruno also complimented Maurice on his footwork.

I thought Lance & lacey did a very nice job. Lacey especially did a good job of letting Lance be the star of this performance. Len loved it even if he thought Lance’s footwork was still a little dodgy. For once Lacey didn’t try to really push the envelope so Len liked this much more traditional routine from this couple. Bruno said he really really enjoyed it. Carrie Ann called it really fun.

Kim & Warren did a good Tango. It wasn’t my favorite performance of the night but it was still good. I thought Warren’s footwork was a little flat. Kim’s body movement was amazing. Bruno compared Warren to James Bond. Carrie Ann said they brought their sparkle back to the floor. She said his footwork was smooth. Len called it fantastic although he had to point out that Warren had a bit too much rise and fall.

Cody doesn’t quite have that masculine physique to pull off the open shirt. Cody was trying a little too hard which caused him to get a little out of sync with Edyta. His solo at the end of the performance drew a big response from the crowd but frankly looked a little gay. Carrie Ann gave him an A for effort but called it a little erratic. Len said his mambo was a little stiff. Bruno called it spasmodic but he also appreciated the effort. Coming from the judges that like saying he has a great personality.

Brooke is absolutely amazing. She is really outstanding on the dance floor. Their Mambo brought the crowd to a standing ovation. Brooke did her solo at the beginning of the routine on the steps in front of the judges. Len thought it was very ambitious performance, fantastic. Bruno told Brooke that she was a great dancer. Carrie Ann said she thought Brooke’s posture was a little awkward although it was a great performance.

I didn’t think Maurice & Cheryl’s performance was very good. Maurice’s footwork looked like a disaster. Maurice spent most of his 15 second solo standing still and twirling his cape which I thought was a cop out. Bruno called it imposing and very powerful. Carrie Ann loved the focus. Len was OK with the cape work. He told Maurice that he did a good job, well done.

Lance’s solo was pretty good although it looked more like an N’Sync stage performance than a Samba. The overall performance was very entertaining. Carrie Ann thought they did a really good job. Len saw elements of the Samba but he agreed with me that the solo didn’t have enough of a Samba flavor. He also thought Lance’s footwork is atrocious. Bruno said they did a very difficult Samba.

Warren’s solo was absolutely fantastic. That was hysterical. I liked their Jive but Warren’s feet arw just a bit too big to get his footwork really precise but when your moving that much weight what he does is great. Len said words cannot even describe Warren’s feet. Bruno said the feet were a little bit flat. Carrie Ann was just impressed that he could keep his feet moving.
